Women's Services
At Summit Medical Center, we understand that women have unique healthcare needs. Thats why weve paired high-quality medical care with education and support programs that specifically target women and the health issues they face. From OBGYN and radiation therapy to cardiac and specialty care, Womens Services address the special healthcare needs of women of all ages.
Labor & Delivery
At Summit Medical Center we have 18 Labor-Delivery-Recovery Post partum (LDRP)rooms. These rooms allow the entire birth proces to be completed in a home-like setting. Our unit is also equipped with a central fetal monitoring display system which allows the nursing staff to check on patients from several locations.
Two operating rooms are also located on the floor for Caeserean sections and other minor surgeries.
OB Assessment Center
Our Assessment Center is designed for OB patients who need outpatient testing or for their labor to be assessed. It is located on the first floor and is open Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Nursery & Neonatology Services
We currently have a Well Baby Nursery and a Special Care Nursery. We have six board certified Neonatologists on staff to care for premature and high-risk babies. They are supported by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners who are also there to provide information during this important time. Our nurses have completed low and high risk Neonatal care classes.
Lactation Services
Breastfeeding is a Learned Art - Unfortunately, in our society, breastfeeding is also a hidden art. The majority of women begin breastfeeding in the hospital, but may find themselves weaning earlier than planned due to circumstances that are avoidable or manageable. Summit Medical Center's new Lactation Boutique, called Best Beginnings, provides a team of professionals dedicated to promoting, educating and encouraging the breastfeeding family.
Our Staff
Our nurses are skilled in caring for low and high risks babies. Several of our RNs are nationally certified in Neonatal and OB care. All licensed personnel are NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certified, and Lactation consultants are also on staff. These nurses are here to answer any questions that you might have.
